Great Start Readiness Program
Position: GSRP Lead Teacher (Full-Time)
Location: Reynolds Elementary, Reading, Michigan
Reports to: Building Principal
About GSRP
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan’s state-funded preschool program for eligible four-year-olds. It is designed to support children’s early development and readiness for kindergarten.
Primary Purpose
To lead and manage a high-quality preschool classroom under the GSRP model, and deliver developmentally appropriate instructional services in compliance with state standards and grant guidelines.
The GSRP Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a high-quality and develop mentally appropriate preschool program for four-year-old children in accordance with the Michigan Department of Education’s GSRP Implementation Manual, early childhood best practices, and the Creative curriculum model. The Lead Teacher promotes school readiness by supporting the physical, social-emotional,and cognitive development of each child and by engaging families as active partners in their child’s learning.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and implement lesson plans using approved curriculum and aligned with the Early Childhood Standards of Quality (ECSQ)
- Supervise, mentor, and collaborate with assistant/associate teachers
- Conduct screenings, assessments, ongoing progress monitoring, and documentation to guide instruction.
- Maintain classroom environment, supplies, and materials
- Provide family engagement experiences (home visits, conferences, parent meetings)
- Complete required grant, licensing, and program paperwork in a timely manner
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and trainings
- Adhere to licensing, safety, health, and regulatory guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must meet one of the following:
- A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or PK-3 endorsement; or
- A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education
Additional required qualifications:
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Ability to pass background checks (MSP fingerprint, LARA, etc.)
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team
Preferred:
- Previous experience teaching preschool or early childhood
- Familiarity with Creative Curriculum and the child assessment Teaching Strategies Gold
- Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds
Professional Compliance Plan (if needed)
For candidates who do not fully meet credential requirements at hire, a Compliance Plan may be required.This outlines a pathway for meeting all credentialing requirements (e.g. coursework, endorsements) within a specified timeframe (often within 3 years).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Based on experience or $45,000

Reynolds Elementary
Position: Elementary Highly Qualified Parapro (Part-Time) 5.9 Hours Per Day
Location: Reynolds Elementary, Reading, Michigan
Reports to: Building Principal
Primary Purpose
The Highly Qualified Paraprofessional works under the supervision of a certified teacher to provide instructional and behavior support to students, including those with special needs or in Title I programs. This role fosters a positive learning environment and supports the implementation and maintenance of individualized education plans (IEPs).
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring, reinforce core curriculum instruction, and assist with classroom activities
- Assist with implementing behavioral intervention plans, collecting data, and providing accommodations for students with disabilities under teacher guidance
- Assist with maintaining a safe, organized, and positive learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student progress
- Supervise students in the lunchroom and recess
- May supervise students before and after school in the Latchkey program
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and trainings
- Adhere to licensing, safety, health, and regulatory guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must meet one of the following:
- Highly Qualified (HQ) as per No Child Left Behind (NCLB) standards;
- e.g.: Associate's Degree, Passing score on ETS Parapro Assessment, or if candidate has previously passed the Work Keys Assessment
- If a Highly Qualified (HQ) applicant cannot be identified, the district may consider hiring an individual who is not currently qualified. Applicants will have 90 days of employment to obtain Highly Qualified (HQ) status to continue employment with the district.
Additional required qualifications:

- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Preferred:
- Previous experience working in a public school setting
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Hourly rate of $13.73 per hour for the first 90 days of employment. Upon completion of the probationary period and attainment of highly qualified (HQ) status, the hourly rate will increase to $14.20. Hourly wage will depend on the work the paraprofessional performs per the RCS Paraprofessional Work Agreement.

Certified School Bus Driver
Reports To: Transportation Supervisor
Employment Type: 25+ hours per week
Position Summary: Reading Community Schools is seeking a qualified individual to serve as School Bus Driver. This position plays an important role in ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of students to and from school. School bus drivers will be needed to cover routes and other assignments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate a school bus safely and efficiently in compliance with district policies, state laws, and federal regulations.
- Transport students to and from school. (field trips, sporting events and extracurricular activities, will be paid at arate of $17 per hour).
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
- Maintain order and ensure student safety while on the bus.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and staff.
- Complete required reports and documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with “S” (School Bus) and “P” (Passenger) endorsements.
- Satisfactory driving record with no major violations.
- Ability to pass a background check and physical examination.
- Dependability and flexibility to respond to calls on short notice.
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly rate: $ 26 per hour
- Training available for qualified candidates.

Substitute School Bus Driver

Employment Type: As Needed / On-Call
Position Summary: Reading Community Schools is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Substitute School Bus Drivers. This position plays an important role in ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of students to and from school. Substitute drivers will be called on an as-needed basis to cover routes and assignments.
